types of pelvis

#There are four types of the female pelvis:-

1) Gynecoid:

•a round shape

•most common 40 to 50% with straight sidewalls • appropriate for vaginal delivery.(female)

  2) Android:

•heart-shaped
•30% of all women
•most common cause of occipito-posterior postion

3) Anthropoid:

•vertically oriented
•oval shape
•20% of all women

•ok for vaginal dilivery

  4) Platypelloid:

•horizontal oval
•rarest, at 2 to 5% •poor prognosis for vaginal delivery. Gynecoid is the most appropriate for normal vaginal dilivery
